Southern Cross Catholic College Outside School Hours Care provides Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care Programs guided by the My Time Our Place Framework. Our flexible program caters to each child’s social, emotional and physical needs by providing time for inside play, outdoor activities, rest time and plenty of opportunities to learn through play and leisure. With a team of 12 qualified and experienced staff, we can ensure a safe and enjoyable time for your child. Children can access our large OSHC building which is fitted with lounge area, kitchen, craft room, home corner and games area as well as a multi-purpose shed, two large playgrounds, school oval and toilet facilities. Our Vacation Care program features excursions (e.g. Reading Cinemas, bowling, Kirwan Aquatic Centre), incursions (e.g. Melville’s Farm petting pen, skirmish, Jumping castles), and themed activity days suggested by children (e.g. superhero day, Halloween theme day). We cater a minimum of one meal per session e.g. breakfast at Before School Care, afternoon tea at After School Care. This meal consists of a variety of fruit and either a hot or cold prepared meal e.g. banana cake or spaghetti bolognese. Each child’s time and progress is recorded through observations, craft and photographs in an individual scrapbook which children can contribute to as they wish. This serves as a keepsake for families to take with them at the end of their time at the service.

Southern Cross OSHC has been rated and assessed by the Department of Education, Training and Employment – Early Childhood and Care and has been deemed to be exceeding the National Quality Framework Standards. We welcome and encourage Townsville families to pop in, say hello and have a look!
